British brand Hotel Chocolat opened up its first U.S. boutique, on Newbury Street, at the end of last month. In addition to a corporate gift service and selections including champagne truffles and the Purist's Library—a collection of seven different single-estate and single-origin chocolates—the shop includes a tasting room suited to group activities. Private tastings are geared toward 12 to 15 people and explore topics such as the company's cocoa growers, the differences between dark and milk chocolates, and cocoa intensities; the cost is $50 per person. Hotel Chocolat has also just teamed up with local sommeliers for wine and chocolate pairings that cost $75 per person.
