The fashion buyers and editors who braved the three-day ENK International Fashion Coterie trade show—which gathered more than 900 exhibitors on Piers 90 and 92 of Show Piers on the Hudson and neighboring Pier 94— were bound to be in need of some respite. And those style-minded showgoers found a suitably attractive lounge on Pier 94, which also housed the show's offices and press room.
Bobby Taylor of Taylor Creative, who has worked with ENK executive director Elyse N. Kroll for four years, gave the pier a bright, modern look. A playful arrangement of modern furniture flanked Pier 94's entryway, which also included pedestals with tall, shiny hot pink vases filled with giant palm fronds and a ring of yellow daisies around the rims. The pink and yellow combination echoed the cheery colors of the show's graphics, which were visible behind the adjacent registration counter.
Sponsored by the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association, the lounge gave show attendees a place to chat, get a drink or check email. Taylor used framed vinyl panels in pastel and neon colors to create a large rectangular lounge space within the exhibition area. The room had a cool pink glow from a wall of pink light bulbs in aluminum dishes inside a large metal grid designed by Creative Engineering (it was something like a high-style wall of those clamp lights you'd find in a hardware store). Large groupings of off-white modular seating with colorful pillows were positioned on both ends of the lounge, accompanied by Philippe Starck-designed stools decorated with small pink vases stuffed with yellow daisies that echoed the look of the entrance.
