Event Pros Take Action, a charitable industry group founded to aid the recovery of communities affected by natural disasters, is partnering with the National Association of Catering Executives Experience conference July 16-18 in New Orleans to encourage attendees to volunteer to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Building on last year's inaugural mission, which saw the donation of 15,000 home-decor items to help refurnish the homes of Katrina survivors, this year’s outreach will include physical, hands-on work on the houses being renovated. Additionally, a fund-raising drive invites supporters to sponsor bathroom and kitchen baskets. The 16-month-old organization has raised $26,600 so far and plans to continue raising money and awareness.

Event industry companies throughout the U.S., including Atlas Party Rental, Hospitality Connects, Intellievent, Liberty Party Rental, and Panache, a Classic Party Rental Company already support the organization. Leadership roles will again be taken by Richard Carbotti of Perfect Surroundings, Mark Wells of Hello Florida, Shari Lynn Rothstein-Kramer of SLK Creative, Larry Green of Rentals Unlimited, and Mosaic Inc. A $20,000 check and furnishings for two homes will be offered by AFR Event Furnishing this summer.

Event Pros kicked off its 2012 efforts with a video message shown at the opening session of February's Special Event show.
