The Academy Awards Governors Ball showed off this year’s design at a press preview on February 16 at the Kodak Theatre, nearly two weeks before the event. The party—for 1,560 guests—will feature a magnificent ceiling made from nearly 10,000 fluorescent tubes. Rectangular tables will be covered in white Ultrasuede from Classic Party Rentals, some featuring waterfall fountain arrangements, and others with floral arrangements using white and lime green Cymbidium orchids, horsetail, moss, and lichen. The space will feature ice bars, up-lit columns, and a water wall. Patti Austin is the featured entertainment, and the Gregg Field Orchestra and saxophonist Tom Scott will also perform. The exterior of the venue will look like a Japanese garden with zen-style decor. Sequoia Productions is heading up the event’s production for the 17th year.
