Yesterday, the family of Catering Company founder Suzanne Kallick Gilliam reported that the 53-year-old industry veteran died on Friday, September 17, in her Naples, Florida home. Gilliam, who formed the Catering Company with husband James V. Gilliam in 1989 and closed the business in May 2009, died following a more than yearlong battle with lung cancer.

During the 20 years her company was in business, Gilliam established a strong reputation among big-name clients, catering for organizations including Bloomberg LP, ENK International, the Tribeca Film Institute, and Time Inc., as well as for large events such as the VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards, and Prospect Park's annual music festival Celebrate Brooklyn.

Services were held today, Monday, September 20, at 10.30 a.m. at Temple Shalom in Naples.
