Tens of thousands of spectators came out to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay park in June. To create an exciting, multimedia show for the celebration, Christie Digital and Asia-based Hexogon Solution created vivid digital projections of flowers and bubbles, which were displayed across the gardens’ eight “supertrees”—tree-like vertical gardens measuring as tall as 165 feet. The 20-minute projection display used 120 light fixtures and 24 flame projectors.

MAC Cosmetics partnered with the makeup artist from Netflix’s Glow to host two masterclasses, May 14 at Highline Stages in New York and May 17 at Goya Studios in Los Angeles. Stoelt Productions built two separate life-size hot pink and black boxing rings for the events. The rings were inspired by the premise of the series, which is about actresses in the 1980s who are cast in a TV series about a women’s professional wrestling team.

In May, more than 600 guests gathered in the New York art institution’s Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden for the dinner—a first for the annual fund-raiser—to honor philanthropist Agnes Gund. The tented dining space featured sections of round and rectangular dining tables that were decorated in four springtime shades—sunshine yellow, robin’s egg blue, rich teal, and cherry blossom pink, with linens, seat cushions, glassware, and floral arrangements to match. Greenery swags hung from the clear plastic tent’s trusses, and faux grass carpeting lined the space.

Holographic Entrance uses FogScreen technology that allows event guests to walk through projected video imagery. The effect is fully customizable; guests can be walking through company logos and graphics, pictures of guests of honor, and more. A speaker system can be added to further the effect. The screens are not actually made of fog—it’s high-velocity air channels—which means there’s no danger of setting off fire alarms or of guests getting wet. The activation is generally eight feet wide, but customization is possible.

To celebrate the public opening of the Broad in Los Angeles in September 2015, event producer Ben Bourgeois was inspired by the art museum’s unique design. Laser-cut paper foldouts as tabletop centerpieces represented the architecture of Grand Avenue and surrounding buildings downtown, including Disney Hall and the new Broad. LED lights illuminated the representations of the buildings so they appeared to glow from within.

Expanding wall and ceiling decor down to the floor can also have a big impact. At the Museum of Contemporary Art's 2015 Benefit Art Auction in Chicago, colorful stripe-on-stripe decor expanded all the way to the floor, creating an optical illusion. Ghost chairs and striped tables allowed the design to feel fully immersive.
