Heidi Klum's much-hyped annual Halloween bash offered a few spooky.phpects this year: an hour wait to get in—even for ticketholders—and a striking resemblance to Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' MTV Video Music Awards after-party. (Both events were hosted in former banks-turned-event spaces and relied on dramatic lighting and the acrobatic group Antigravity to entertain guests.) Hosted at Capitale—a new restaurant and event venue not yet open to the public—the party drew a swelling twentysomething crowd clad in costumes, per the invitation, that was dispersed throughout the main level's dance floor and upstairs lounges. (There were also famous and semifamous names like Molly Sims, Angie Harmon and Combs himself)
A colorful, roving lighting scheme lit the walls, and spotlights highlighted Antigravity's performers, which included a bubble-blowing fairy flying through the air and an extra-tall stiltwalker dancing with the crowd. While an upbeat mix of dance music was plentiful, complimentary food and alcohol weren't: Only strawberries and chocolate accompanied the $14 drinks that were served after a one-hour open bar.
