I’m a marketing coordinator at an upscale magazine, and I’m looking for a Los Angeles venue that gets a lot of heavy, high-end traffic where I can prominently display signage and a new $25,000 street bike for my client, Honda. Ideas? —Sarah Stoneback, Bestlife
Seems like the lobby of a boutique hotel might be a good bet for display: the Viceroy, Mondrian, the Figueroa, or Chateau Marmont. Or how about the first floor lobby of the Pacific Design Center (310.360.6415)? The venue has lately been host to zillions of events with young, hip, upscale guest lists—including biggies like this year’s Miramax and Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards parties. PDC currently has a contract with Lexus to display its vehicles, but if Honda wanted to do an event, the cars would be removed and the bikes and signage moved in for the occasion. The center’s event manager, Laura Ng, could help you out. By the way, the entire place can accommodate more than 2,000 in 1.2 million square feet of interior space, landscaped plazas, and rooftop decks.
For a specifically motor-sports-minded environment, try the Petersen Automotive Museum (323.964.6348). Spaces include an all-glass pavilion and conference center, and the Connor Pavilion, with views of Beverly Hills and the Hollywood Hills. Contact Stacy Hoffberg at the museum for information.
Last, I would suggest the Grove (323.900.8080), a three-year-old open pedestrian mall near the Farmers Market and a great, airy public space. With 575,000 square feet, there’s plenty of room for your exhibition. Good luck!
