With the Academy Awards just three days away, Kontent Publishing Group and Lanc?me Paris chose one of the nominated films, Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, as the theme of their joint bash at This is London. The event recognized the fifth anniversary of Kontent's Inside Entertainment magazine and the launch of Lanc?me's new makeup line, Cherub. Kontent executive manager Katherine Buchanan said This is London's multiple chandeliers and comfortable seating with rich fabrics helped convey a palatial vibe appropriate for the Marie Antoinette party premise. "The space contributed sparkle and glamour," Buchanan said. Two imposing Hummers parked on either side of the entrance hinted at extravagance inside. Luxury jeweler Swarovski invited a fortunate few of the 800 guests to wear some of its shimmering creations. Meanwhile, make-up artists from Lanc?me Paris provided touchups to keep guests looking their best. Models from NAM toured the party wearing couture from Mark Belford and accents by Swarovski. In true royal style, the hosts supplied an abundance of food and drink. Caterer Kindred Spirits served piled-high meringues, cupcakes, salmon tartar, and goose liver p?t?. Grey Goose Vodka chipped in with custom cocktails like the "Corsetini," made with Grey Goose L'Orange. Poulain Chocolate supplied the closer—copious mini chocolates available throughout the space and two full size chocolate bars in the parting gift bags.
When not mingling or gawking at celebrities like models Shalom Harlow and Monika Schnarre, ballerina Rex Harrington, and designer Arthur Mendonca, guests could take in Marie Antoinette on one of the many 52-inch Sony Bravia plasma televisions located around the space.
