ATLANTA—An immersive, walkthrough, multimedia art exhibit has taken over The Pullman Yards in Atlanta now through June 19. The traveling exhibition Imagine Picasso is a 360-degree experience that not only showcases more than 200 of Pablo Picasso’s works, but also brings his early-1900s art into the 21st century with cutting-edge technology.
Proprietary production technology called Image Totale© was employed to bring hundreds of Picasso's pieces to life by adapting them to scenographic surfaces to project the paintings while preserving their integrity. The exhibit is the brainchild of Annabelle Mauger and Julien Baron, the originators of the immersive art movement. The duo created Imagine Picasso after being granted the right to produce the event by the Picasso Succession Estate and family.
The exhibition consists of two main spaces designed to engage guests of all ages.
"The ‘Presence of Genius’ [room] invites guests to see Picasso at work and digest some curatorial information to help guide the visitor through his massive, revolutionary career," said Jacob Cohl, vice president of exhibitions at S2BN Entertainment and a producer of Imagine Picasso. "The spaces projects images of Picasso and his works in the world on a series of scrims that guests are invited to walk through, diving deeper into his psyche, culminating in the studio."
In contrast, “the main space is a 12,000-plus-square-foot space with 60-foot ceilings where Picasso’s work takes center stage as it is projected in 360 degrees on a series of structures inspired by origamis that Picasso created. It is a sensory overload with colors and images everywhere,” Cohl explained.
And it gets better—for event planners looking to host a memorable meeting or event, Imagine Picasso's exhibit space is available to reserve for private gatherings of up to 350 and can include a cocktail reception inside or out.
Meanwhile, tickets for the experience can be purchased through the Fever app or website. Adult ticket prices range from $27-$44 while child ticket prices range from $19-$31. Discounts are available for groups, seniors, students, and military personnel.
