INSPIRATION: Tut's Tomb in Los Angeles

E4848tut 152
When the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Lacma) presents “Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs” from June through November, it will be the first time the treasures of King Tut have visited the city in 27 years—and a great place to find inspiration for event ideas. The exhibition includes more than 130 artifacts, and Lacma is the first United States venue on its 27- month national tour. Among the major objects on exhibit: Tut’s royal diadem—the gold crown discovered encircling the head of the mummy, which the king likely wore while he was alive—and one of the gold and precious-stone-inlaid vessels that contained his mummified organs. If the exhibit inspires you to plan an event at the museum, you can take a group on a private tour, with reception food provided by contract caterer Patina. Events may be booked for any day of the week in the museum’s newly renovated West Penthouse, which opened in May (323.857.6039). —Alesandra Dubin
