The big cylindrical building formerly known as a Holiday Inn near the 405 freeway at Sunset Boulevard has just reopened as the boutique Hotel Angeleno. It features 209 guest rooms on 16 floors and three one-bedroom suites. Four meeting rooms offer a total of 2,575 square feet, and a top-floor Italian steakhouse is called West (pictured). The hotel officially opened with a party on June 7 that gave guests each a map of activities and tastings happening on six floors of the building. Another nice touch: A barista in the hotel's café whipped up lattes as guests waited for their cars from valets in the packed parking lot. BNC is handling PR. —Alesandra Dubin
