Nielsen to Launch L.A. Film Industry Trade Show in Spring 2010

Nielsen Business Media announced today that it will launch MovieWeek LA, an annual industry and consumer event concerning the art and business behind the movie industry. Managing director Tom Morrissy, of the new firm Morrissy & Vine LLC, will head up the event. (Morrissy was a publisher of Entertainment Weekly and OK! magazines before launching the consultancy firm this year.) Plans are currently under way to launch MovieWeek in Los Angeles as both a trade show and citywide event series in spring 2010.

“Just as Fashion Week celebrates and ignites the power of design and gives consumers the inside track to new styles and trends, MovieWeek will entertain and energize by bringing consumers inside the creative and production process with a spotlight on how movie brands drive an array of businesses, including games and mobile applications," Nielsen Business Media's Entertainment Group senior vice president Gerry Byrne said in a release.
