As part of a larger rebranding effort, the organization formerly known as the Newport Beach Conference and Visitors Bureau has officially changed its name to Visit Newport Beach Inc.
"More cities and communities across the country are moving away from calling their tourism marketing arms ‘bureaus’ since the consumer really doesn’t know what that means or what they do," said the group's president and C.E.O., Gary Sherwin, in the announcement. (A prime example: the Los Angeles convention and visitors authority, L.A. Inc.) "Visit Newport Beach is consistent with the ways visitors and meeting planners find us on the Internet and on other information resources.”
The name change comes at the end of an overall rebranding push that began more than a year ago and caused the agency to change the look and feel of its advertising, its taglines, and its mission statement.
The agency has offices in Newport Beach, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and London.
