1. TALKING POINTS: Marcus Fischer, chief strategy officer at Carmichael Lynch, mulls over the idea that there aren't many big events--like the presidential election or Olympics--scheduled for 2013, which gives brands fewer topics to engage consumers with. He likens the potential experience to "filling the awkward silence in a conversation," but argues that next year could be a time of "tremendous innovation in marketing and creating conversations between brands and consumers." Ad Age:http://bit.ly/SWXHuo

2. DRIVING SALES: Today double-decker buses will hit New York and Los Angeles as part of a promotion for remastered Beatles studio album vinyls. The mobile pop-up shops selling the new release will be emblazoned with images of the Fab Four and their logo. The Hollywood Reporter:http://bit.ly/SjmMfT

3. WHO'S CHARITY: Yesterday, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend announced the launch of a new charity, Teen Cancer America, which supports teens and young adults with the disease. To raise funds, The Who will donate $1 from every ticket sold on their current national tour, and British Airways has a text-to-donate sweepstakes program.http://bit.ly/QDLM6h

4. INTIMATE PLUMBING: To promote Drag Machine, a drag queen-themed theater show at Denver's Off-Center theater, ad agency Gyro made humorous use of outdoor faucets around the city for the display of promotional posters. AdWeek: http://bit.ly/TuDlr5
