Incentive planners, conference organizers, HR executives, and event marketers recently gathered at the new Reebok FitHub in New York’s Union Square to experience a one-of-a-kind event. The new prototype merged fitness and events, featuring a shopping spree, a TED-style talk, and a new style of networking.
The mini TED-style talk was lead by Dr. John Ratey, Harvard professor and author of Spark and Go Wild. He shared the scientific reasoning behind why maintaining a lifestyle more like that of our ancestors will restore our health and well-being. Ratey also led the group in brain-stimulating exercises designed to inspire.
During breakfast, Mike Kratochwill, Reebok's senior director of training partnership marketing, announced the company’s desire to aggressively partner with the event community. Reebok plans on making its fitness coaches readily available for events; and with this era of enhanced participation, the company has welcomed all types of groups looking to enhance conference experiences, incentive trips, and employee appreciation events.
The event host, David Adler, C.E.O. and founder of BizBash, discussed how “we are living in the blurred lines era of events, and these unique retail locations are one of the most logical new places for events.” Adler also stated that a recent BizBash survey found more than 60% of event planners are always looking for new, innovative spaces to host their events.
