We saw Tom Brokaw M.C. last week's Lawyers Committee for Human Rights benefit. Everyone actually listened. (It's the voice.) That got us thinking: How do you pick a good M.C.? One note: Using the CEO is usually more about ego than entertainment. Don Epstein of the Greater Talent Network (a company that reps lots of celebrities) gave us a list of the most requested M.C.s: Conan O'Brien, Rosie O'Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Costas, Len Berman, Danny Glover, Billy Crystal, Regis Philbin, Larry King, Michael Moore, Jay Leno and David Letterman. Their prices are within the five-to-six-figures range. But be forewarned before booking journalists: Breaking news might keep them at work.leaving you with the CEO at the mike.
