The Mandarin Oriental has taken a sensory approach to hosting meetings this summer with a new program dubbed Meeting Sense. Designed to improve energy levels, enhance creativity, and increase participation levels, Meeting Sense “adds a new element of interest to traditional meetings,” says Renee Sharrow, a spokeswoman for the hotel. “By adding color therapies to presentations and infusing scents into meeting rooms, energy levels are boosted, alertness is heightened, and a calming effect is created.”The program aims to stimulate the five senses through techniques such as integrating bright colors into breakfast and lunch presentations to balance the body’s internal energy (sight); infusing natural and refreshing scents to stimulate energy in meeting rooms (smell); sounding Tibetan chimes at the conclusion of sessions to relieve tension (sound); providing ginger tea at the beginning of lunch to soothe the senses and aid in digestion (taste); and offering refreshing towels at the conclusion of lunch to soothe the skin and provide good luck (touch).
Meeting Sense is offered to in-house groups of as many as 60 attendees for $30 per person. Customized holistic food and beverage menus, guest speakers, and spa and yoga sessions can be added for an additional cost.
