Artfully Chocolate owners Eric Nelson and Rob Kingsbury are opening a second home for their chocolate-and-art gallery in September (the first opened in Alexandria a year ago), and the duo will offer catering services this time around. Known for premium chocolates and customized cacao-based gifts (including sweets bearing corporate logos), the artsy boutique’s specialties include macaroons, truffles, and chocolate-covered cherries.
Located in the Matrix condo tower in Logan Circle, the new and larger venue will be similar to (and just as quirky as) the original, offering Nelson-crafted artwork, orchids, and—in an effort to support local chocolatiers—chocolates from Alexandria’s Kingsbury Confections and Christopher’s Confections, and Arlington’s Artisan Confections.New elements to the store include an in-house cocoa café (serving chocolate-based drinks) and chocolate-making classes for 12 (corporate groups are welcome). Events such as chocolate tastings will be held in the store, which can hold as many as 75. Also in the works: a stationary and chocolates boutique, Artfully Paper, opening in Alexandria in September.
