CircEsteem teaches confidence-building circus skills to local youth. In January, the nonprofit extended its offerings to corporate groups with the development of its Team-Esteem Day activities. Held at Uptown's Alternatives Inc. (CircEsteem's home base), the day involves workshops, lunch, and breaks, and ends with a costumed show that allows participants to show off their newly learned tricks. Planners choose a skill to focus on in advance, such as juggling, trapeze arts, and rolling in a giant gym wheel. Professional circus performers, including a former Barnum & Bailey clown and Cirque du Soleil performer, guide the workshops. Pricing depends on group size (which can range from five to 40), and costs for the day start at $5,000.
