ASSESSING AIRLINE FOOD: Speaking of airlines: American’s recent announcement that it is working on in-flight meals with chefs Richard Sandoval and Marcus Samuelsson prompted The Chicago Tribune to talk to the founder of AirplaneFood.net about the sad state of eating while airborne. He ranks the best (Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates Airlines) and worst (United Airlines, US Airways, Alitalia).

3. APP MARKETING GUIDELINES: The Mobile Marketing Association released privacy policy guidelines for mobile applications Monday. Adweek: "The new guidelines lay out core privacy principles, suggest consumer-friendly language developers can use to craft their own policies—including ways to inform consumers what data might be collected about them and how that data might be used and shared—and opt-in and opt-out mechanisms."

The BizBash New York Expo & Awards kicks off today at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The show floor will feature more than 150 exhibitors showcasing event products and services. Morning sessions include a keynote presentation from Scott Heiferman, C.E.O. and co-founder of Meetup.com, who will discuss "The Future of Events: Building Community Through Creativity," and an educational program featuring event pros like Maneesh Goyal of MKG, and Robin Hall of Macy's Parade & Entertainment Group. Colin Cowie is the afternoon keynote speaker.
The expo will conclude with the presentation of the winners of the Event Style Awards and new Readers' Choice Awards at 5 p.m. and a post-show cocktail reception immediately following the awards.
