* INCOMING *

1. GOLDEN GLOBES NIGHT: From Los Angeles bureau chief Alesandra Dubin: Sunday brought with it thea threat of rain, so last night's sprawling 69th annual Golden Globes red carpet at the Beverly Hilton got a clear-top tent. It didn't rain during the arrivals, but it did so briefly right around 9 p.m., just as the guests of the after-partyies guests were arriving at the Hilton, sending people scurrying for cover along Wilshire Boulevard, where the line to get in stretched longer than 30 minutes.

Inside, the hotel was its annual cauldron of organized chaos, with guests enlisting the help ofusing digital signage to make their ways to various parties, like so many well-heeled ants in a tony ant farm. This year's tally of major parties in and around the Hilton was six, with AMC a no-show but the other mainstays like In Style and HBO back in force, and Fox a returnee for the second year.

Rain Weather wasn't the only widely thing that didn’t follow the forecast thing that didn't go exactly as expected: Ricky Gervais proved fairly tame as returning host of the 69th annual dinner ceremony in the International Ballroom. Read our full party coverage on BizBash.com today. Our party coverage will be up later today.

Host Ricky Gervais kicked off the night with wisecracks about Jodie Foster, Eddie Murphy, and Kim Kardashian. Here's 20 of the night's big moments from Entertainment Weekly including the jabs, acceptance speeches, and mishaps:

The Chicago Tribune weigh's in on Gervais, saying thatsays the comedian "...got it just right":

Missed the Globes? The National Post lists Gervais's best punchlines, including this line about the audience: “You’re much better than last years — they had a right stick up their arse.”:

The New York Times on the mood in the room: "After a chilly reaction to Mr. Gervais’s monologue, stars like Rob Lowe seemed irritated at teleprompter trouble and even marquee names (Madonna) had acceptance speeches cut short by music—an awards show hazard. A bevy of younger stars spent most of their time smoking on an adjacent terrace, where free Parliament cigarettes were provided."
