1. INAUGURAL MOMENTS: Monday's presidential inauguration emitted more of a relaxed vibe than the historic day four years ago. There still was the pomp—the U.S. Capitol building was dressed in stars and stripes and patriotic bunting—but there was time for jokes and smartphone pictures snapped by the first family. Still, many observers noted that the most poignant moment of the day was unscripted. Associated Press: "As he headed back into the Capitol after the swearing-in, the president pivoted and planted himself to look back at the scene. 'I want to take a look, one more time,' he said. 'I'm not going to see this again.'" http://bit.ly/11NXaQY

2. THE DRESS: With the all-star performers announced ahead of time, the most anticipated moment of the evening was what First Lady Michelle Obama would wear. The answer? A red gown from Jason Wu, the same designer who created her 2009 inaugural ball dress. It now heads to the National Archives. L.A. Times: "It was an interesting day, fashion-wise. The red Wu gown was a powerful complement to the first lady’s inaugural ensemble Monday morning, a Thom Browne navy blue tie-silk jacquard coat and dress, her own riff on the menswear trend for women. The pieces were tailored to perfection and fit her like armor. Adding the J. Crew jeweled belt and Reed Krakoff custom navy blue suede boots added a superhero edge to the outfit." http://lat.ms/10kzwXn
3. WORST KEYNOTES: We've all sat through boring, awkward, or technology-impaired keynotes. Some, though, are worse than others. Wired: "Cash-rich tech companies still can't seem to buy themselves a good keynote. Cheesy incoherence rules the day. But maybe that's not such a bad plan. The worse the keynote, the more buzz around its badness." http://bit.ly/XQxezC
4. HISTORY FOR SALE: Bonhams will auction Felix de Weldon’s original cast stone version of the Iwo Jima monument, the iconic image of the raising of the Stars and Stripes on the summit of Mount Suribachi by five Marines and a Navy corpsman. Until 2007, the statue had been on display at New York's Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. A bronze version of the statue is on public view at the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia. It is part of a February 22 auction in New York entitled "World War II: the Pacific Theater" and is expected to bring in up to $1.8 million. Press release: http://bit.ly/10CSJIF
5. RENTALS FOR GOOD: CORT, the furniture rentals company, announced a partnership with Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides educational scholarships to dependents and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving the country. The company is planning fund-raising activities throughout the year to support the foundation and recently donated furniture for a retreat house in Oklahoma for military families.
