1. CHICAGO USES LOLLAPALOOZA AS TECH RECRUITING EVENT: Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is using Lollapalooza as a way to recruit 100 technology and computer science college students to the city. Associated Press: "The students will be part of ThinkChicago: Lollapalooza. The event will allow the students to attend the music festival as well as a series of workshops designed to showcase Chicago as a hub of innovation, including résumé pairings and interviews hosted by local companies." http://bit.ly/Zxk7GO

2. THE CONCERT HOLOGRAM GIMMICK RETURNS: The Tupac hologram at last year's Coachella made headlines, but the gimmick is evolving at events this year. Pitchfork: "Feist 'performed' in three different Canadian cities at once—Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal—as a hologram, Exclaim! reports. 3. HOW TO BUY MET COSTUME GALA RED-CARPET LOOKS: Online luxury retailer Moda Operandi, a sponsor of the Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, announced it would sell red-carpet looks from this year's gala the day after the event. Mashable: "The retailer expects to carry about 10 pieces (total) from Rodarte, Nina Ricci, Wes Gordon, Delpozo, and Anthony Vacarello, among others, a spokesperson for the company said. The sale will run for one week. … The gowns have attracted interest both domestically and internationally, particularly in areas that don't have access to retail environments that carry those designers." http://on.mash.to/13F8uNJ

BOSTON:  Be Styled, a new blow-dry salon in Chestnut Hill, hosts small private events. The space has eight styling stations, periwinkle and silver decor, and plays romantic comedies.

Agassiz Village summer camp will host "the Maine Course" at the Prime Motor Group Mercedes-Benz showroom in Westwood on Sunday. The event, which benefits the camp's programs for underserved youth, will offer camp-style games and bites from local restaurants including Island Creek Oyster Bar. 

TR Street Foods is now open in Fort Point. Adjacent to Tavern Road, the venue offers a rotating menu of takeout fare inspired by global street fare. Menu items include kebabs, calzones, fresh juices, and tacos.

CHICAGO:  The Alzheimer's Association Chicago will host its 26th Rita Hayworth gala at the Hilton Chicago on May 11. Singer Richard Marx will perform; the black-tie evening will also include cocktails, a three-course dinner, auctions, programming, and dancing to Orchestra 33's "Party Gras" band.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago's "the Walk" is Friday at Millennium Park Chase Promenade. The event's honorees are fashion designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte.

LAS VEGAS:  Nobu Hotel Restaurant and Lounge Caesars Palace Las Vegas celebrated its grand opening Sunday with a traditional Japanese sake ceremony and party that featured a performance by singer Ed Sheeran poolside at the Garden of the Gods complex.

LOS ANGELES:  The L.A. Kings' mascot, Bailey, is "camping out" at L.A. Live in an exhibit hosted by Travel Alberta to promote the hockey play-offs. The site features elements of the western Canadian city's terrain, an 18-foot camp trailer, a fire pit, a putting green, and games for fans.

AEG has signed an events agreement with Brand Affinity Technologies to leverage the company's FanPhotos fan activation services at 10 AEG-affiliated venues, including the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Best Buy Theater in New York's Times Square, the Warfield in San Francisco, and multiple AEG-produced festivals.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA:  Fashion for Charity is hosting a "Tea at 2" fund-raiser benefitting Casimiro Global Foundation May 18 at Briza on the Bay in Coconut Grove. Activities will include tea service, a fashion show from Gianinna Azar, a beauty lounge, and live entertainment.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade will host its second annual “Claws for Kids” fund-raising brunch on Sunday at Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami Beach. Last year’s event raised $32,500.

NEW YORK:  OpenCo, a mix between a business conference and an artist's open studio, will feature more than 100 host companies that will open their doors to the public on May 23 for a "festival of innovation." To promote its renovated home in Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport, Delta is hosting a pop-up space in SoHo May 1-22 called T4X. It will sell lunch items inspired by the international destinations Delta services from J.F.K., with a flight information screen displaying menu options, and a baggage-claim-style conveyor belt will deliver the fare in a mini Delta suitcase. MKG is producing the event.

Justin Timberlake will perform May 5 at the Roseland Ballroom for MasterCard cardholders. Those registered on a site for "Priceless New York" will be alerted first when tickets become available.

ORLANDO:  Renovations of the Disney Magic cruise ship will add new activities and spaces for meetings and incentive programs. The ship will get two new restaurants, new nightlife options, a redesigned lobby, new water play areas, and an expanded spa. The work will be done this fall when the ship is dry-docked in Spain.

SAN DIEGO:  The San Diego Convention Center Corporation and OnPeak will launch a new housing services program for meeting planners and attendees on July 1. Meeting planners that book the venue will have access to the program's new booking software and other customer-service upgrades.

TORONTO:  Target will present Toronto Fashion Incubator New Labels tonight at the Carlu. The gala event will feature drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and a fashion show with a wide-screen video projection, and funds raised will go to TFI, a nonprofit that supports fashion entrepreneurs.

WASHINGTON:  The Harlem Renaissance Festival is May 4 at Columbia Park Community Center in Landover. The 14th annual event will host Renaissance-themed musicians, artists, and vendors.
