New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) and Variety magazine co-hosted Designing Hollywood, a cocktail party and panel discussion with costume designers Carol Oditz and Yana Syrkin and makeup artist Bernadette Mazur. The simple affair was held to honor the three women for their influence on the fashion and film industries, and proceeds from the event went to NYWIFT, an organization dedicated to promoting the work of females in the film, television and new media industries. Revlon spokesmodel Karen Duffy hosted the proceedings.
Serena Bass Catering provided the decor and food for the event. Tall, clear vases with single red peonies were set around the room and on tall black-draped cocktail tables. Popcorn in movie theater-style paper bags was served before the presentation, and more food, including nuts, olives and pizza bread, was set out following the discussion.
