Trump Hollywood Has Finally Arrived

A party to welcome guests (and possible clients) to the future home of Trump Hollywood was made memorable courtesy of its tapas-style catering, live jazz band, and hands-on sales approach.

February 2, 2007

More than 120 realtors and industry professionals came out to celebrate and learn more about the soon-to-be-constructed Trump Hollywood, a 40-story, 200-unit luxury condominium on the beach whose units will range anywhere from $1.8 to $5 million apiece.Formally dressed greeters welcomed guests as they arrived at the project's sales center's wooden patio. Meanwhile, butlers passed around 2Taste Catering's elongated oval-shaped glasses of champagne, and people took in the relaxed atmosphere provided by Nicole Henry's four-piece jazz band, consisting of vocalist Henry and three musicians: a drummer, an upright bassist, and a keyboardist. Hired through Suman Entertainment Group, the quartet performed mellow classics.

While some guests stayed outside taking in this loungy atmosphere and mingling amongst themselves, most attendees went inside the sales center to view the facility's five-foot model, see examples of what the various rooms will look like through life-size replicas, take tours provided by some of the on-hand Trump employees, and attend a brief presentation—hosted by Related, the company behind this gigantic real estate project—on the terrace just behind the sales center.

At the conclusion of the presentation, guests moved back to the front patio, where they feasted on 2Taste president John Rossetti's three butlered tapas: filet mignon with lobster mashed potatoes and asparagus, sea bass Ă  l'orange with Israeli couscous, and veal-wrapped asparagus spheres with a morel porto. His staff, dressed in black-on-black Italian tailored dress shirts with silk ties, also passed around healthy hors d'oeuvres like osetra caviar, yellow-tailed nigiri, ahi tuna tartare, and Scottish smoked salmon with keta roe. And, for the drinkers, three types were available: Veuve Clicquot Champagne, Sterling cabernet sauvignon, and Adler Fels pinot noir. Everything was served on glass trays. Eventgoers even had several options as to where they would be eating, as the decor consisted of white cabanas with linen-covered cushions set-up by Rossetti, three- to four-foot tall acrylics provided by So Cool Events, and Party Depot rentals such as the dark rattan cubes people were using as tables.

"Since this was an upscale gathering, we went all-out—creating centerpieces out of cymbidium orchids, black magic roses, silver kings, and French tulips. We also used ambient lighting, topped the bar with an ice bowl, and added some drapes to the showroom. Lastly, we hired MAC Parking to valet," said Rossetti, the event's planner and caterer.

As guests left, they received commemorative photo discs from the event, courtesy of the staff at See You at the Party.com, which could later be inserted into any computer to recapture the evening.

“We once had a premiere for a show that was set in New Orleans, and transitioning 250 guests from the screening room to the after-party was an opportunity for us to enhance the experience by bringing in a New Orleans-style second line band—who led the entire audience across a busy NYC street,' remembers Vox Media's Tara Reilly. 'It not only created a smooth transition, but it gave our audience an unexpected experience that was memorable and sparked conversation.”
