During the National Cable & Telecommunications Association’s four-day Cable Show, which closed on Friday, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center was swarming with some 10,000 attendees, in town to take in the conference’s educational sessions and special events, including an industry-wide battle of the bands. The trade show had nearly 400 exhibitors, including some big names in the business, including HBO, Comcast, Disney, and Turner Broadcasting. With massive built-out booths, theatrical lighting, and the occasional celebrity appearance, broadcasters fought for the attention of the conference’s wandering crowd.
