To continue building its audience of about 38 million listeners, CBS Radio held its second expo at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, June 26. More than 8,000 fans turned out for the event, which saw sports stars and musicians join radio personalities from 1010 Wins, 92.3 Now, WFAN, and other stations to perform, sign autographs, and chat with the masses.
Organized by the New York-based network's internal marketing department, the daylong event took over the main concourse of the year-old facility with booths for six of the radio stations as well as a cluster of sponsors, including Geico, Kenneth Cole, Lincoln Tech, and the Metropolitan Transit Authority. The stalls also held baseball, football, and basketball celebrities—from Darryl Strawberry and Ron Blomberg to John Starks and Mark Gastineau—who doled out free autographs.
To house performances by Kat DeLuna, American Idol winner Kris Allen, Macy Gray, and Eddie Money, the radio operator set up a stage in the Great Hall. The show also had plenty of other entertainment, including kid-friendly activities like face-painting, basketball, and a station for video games like Dance Dance Revolution and The Beatles: Rock Band.
