The Fairmont Washington, D.C. completed a $2.6 million renovation to its 24,000 square feet of function space in January. Overseen by New York-based architecture and design firm BBG-BBGM, the project updated the 415-room luxury hotel’s ballroom level, mezzanine level, and the third-floor meeting space.
Located in West End near Georgetown, the updated meeting space now offers charging and Internet docking stations. The third-floor executive boardrooms are programmed with wireless touch panels, overhead microphones, and rack-mounted equipment to support audio amplifiers, Blu-Ray players, and audio signal processors.
The 5,460-square-foot ballroom, which can be divided into 17 meeting areas and accommodates as many as 700 people, features newly embellished chandeliers, glass mirrors, and a wall that depicts images of the cherry blossoms found throughout the city.
Keeping with the comfortably modern design, designers incorporated a mix of gold and silver, accents of soft green, and fresh white trim throughout the ballroom and meeting spaces. Green Label-approved carpets were installed along with low volatile organic compounds and paints. Black and white artwork featuring some of Washington’s most interesting places adorns the walls, while the soft goods and finishes mirror the hotel’s garden and other outdoor spaces.
