Sawhorse Media’s Shorty Awards

Sawhorse Media took over the TimesCenter on Monday night for its fourth annual Shorty Awards. The event, which honored the best content creators on social media, saw Mayor Michael Bloomberg, activists from the Occupy Wall Street movement, and representatives from N.A.S.A. hit the stage to receive their trophies.

Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment’s Players Gala

With help from Yellow House Events, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment hosted the annual Players Gala fund-raiser for the Team Up Foundation in Toronto on Sunday. In an effort to elevate the event beyond an autograph session, athletes from the Toronto F.C., Raptors, Maple Leafs, and Marlies poured drinks behind the bar, challenged guests to foosball and virtual golf games, and took on-camera interviews with guests.

HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Exhibit

After using its New York retail store for a promotion tied to the DVD release of Boardwalk Empire season one, HBO returned to the space to highlight Game of Thrones a week before its season-two premiere. Filled with props and costumes from the show, the exhibit debuted on Wednesday and will remain open through the month of April.

Exploring the Arts Foundation Gala

Crooner Tony Bennett’s charity organization held a fund-raiser in Miami on March 19. The 400-person gala at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens featured a dramatic lighting design that bathed the entire museum facade in various shades of low-profile LED lighting. Bennett performed alongside Spanish singer Alejandro Sans.

Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest

Pillsbury partnered with Martha Stewart for its 45th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. The talk show host spoke with each of the 100 contestants as they prepared their entries Monday morning at the Peabody Orlando. On Tuesday she announced the million-dollar grand-prize winner during a live broadcast of The Martha Stewart Show from a temporary studio in the hotel.

Alfred Dunhill’s Fall/Winter 2012 Fashion Show

To unveil its latest collection of menswear, Alfred Dunhill hosted a 1,000-person presentation at Shanghai’s New International Expo Centre on March 16. The show employed new projection-mapping technology, which created a snow-globe-like effect around models stationed atop a platform.

Relativity Media’s ‘Mirror Mirror’ Premiere

It was the uncommon Hollywood movie premiere that drew more guests in light-up sneakers than tottering stilettos: Relativity Media invited the whole family out to the world premiere of Mirror Mirror at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on March 17. Guests of all ages came out for the screening followed by a family-friendly party at the Hollywood Roosevelt.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival's Opening Ceremony

The National Cherry Blossom Festival's opening ceremony in Washington on Sunday drew 6,000 residents, visitors, foreign dignitaries, and local and international media. The night of American and Japanese music and artistic performances is one of more than 100 events in the festival this year, which expanded from two weeks to five for its centennial celebration of the gift of trees from Tokyo.

Garfield Park Conservatory’s “Fleurotica” Fashion Show

On March 23, the Garfield Park Conservatory’s Fleurotica benefit took place at Chicago’s Venue One. The centerpiece of the evening was a fashion show that showcased 14 looks constructed entirely out of flowers and plants. Designer Lance Larson, owner of Blumgarten & Company, won the Best in Show award for his green-and-white design.

Shecky’s Girls Night Out

Shecky’s had its Girls Night Out at Boston’s Cyclorama March 21 to 22. With 40 vendors showcasing goods varying from clothing to scented candles, the event had a catwalk sponsored by Maybelline New York. Guests could pose on the runway and have their photos snapped, then receive the images seconds later via text message.
