On Monday, the Dana Hotel announced the opening of its temporary Ice Bar, which will host alfresco receptions until early March—pending any unexpected warm weather before then.
On the rooftop patio of the Vertigo Sky Lounge, the Ice Bar's centerpiece is a 10-foot bar comprised of 3,000 pounds of solid ice. Bundled-up bartenders prepare spiked snow cones and chilled vodka cocktails, and servers circulate with carts of hot specialty cocktails. Selections include the White Hot Orange Blossom, which blends white hot chocolate with orange-flavored liqueur, and the Hot Passion Mojito, a combination of passion-mint tea and rum. The food menu offers sushi and other light, Asian selections from the hotel's Aja restaurant.
Along with a crystal-filled fire pit and numerous heat lamps, the venue offers velour robes and faux fur blankets to help guests keep warm. The patio has a capacity of 75 and can be combined with the adjoining indoor lounge to host receptions for 200.
