1. Big-name chef David Burke has his hands in plenty of projects, and he had a role in creating the menu for Marc Cooperman’s Restaurant.mc, an eatery in Millburn, New Jersey, which opened early last year. In the kitchen executing the New American dishes is Burke protégé Steve Permaul. Events can take over two areas in the bilevel space: a 20-seat private dining room, which has a digital projector and a surround-sound system, and a mezzanine that holds 120 for receptions.2. New to Westchester this year is 42, a restaurant from Anthony Gonçalves (who got a nod from Esquire in 2004 for his work at Trotters) in the newly renovated Ritz-Carlton in White Plains. Making the most of its position on the hotel’s 42nd floor, 42 has 360-degree views in addition to an interior decorated with onyx, black granite, crushed-velvet light fixtures, wood, and leather. The private dining room seats 36 and has two flat-screen TVs and audiovisual equipment.
3. Also in White Plains is an outpost of Laurent Tourondel’s BLT Steak, which opened in a beautiful, airy space in late December. Contrasting the butter-colored walls and gauzy white drapes are accents like ebony wood tables, dark hardwood flooring, and a 23-foot-long zinc bar. For presentations and large groups there’s a private event space that seats 20, which includes a plasma TV, digital cable, a DVD player, and a sound system.
