10 New Miami Bars and Clubs for Events

Jana Schiowitz
August 1, 2011

These new bars, lounges, and nightclubs in Miami have indoor, outdoor, private, and semiprivate spaces that can accommodate groups small and large for events, meetings, product launches, holiday parties, presentations, and other types of entertaining.

1. Haven Gastro-Lounge opened in May on South Beach's Lincoln Road. The main bar, made of Siberian onyx and reclaimed American walnut, sits opposite the the kitchen and extends midway into the lounge, which is filled with recycled leather banquettes and ottomans. The 2,000-square foot indoor/outdoor space has a range of technology and equipment for events, like a high-quality audio system and LED down lighting. Total capacity is 120.

2. The Lounge at Gotham Steak debuted in June at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The hotel's upstairs dining room at Gotham Steak was converted into a 70-person lounge with a house DJ, soft lighting, and casual furnishings.

3. Treehouse Miami joined the nightclub scene in January and boasts both indoor and outdoor options for entertaining groups of more than 440 people. The approximately 3,000-square-foot indoor area is divided into three rooms, each decorated in different color themes. Outside, another 3,000-square-foot area is found with synthetic grass, cabana beds, and rattan lounges.

4. Nestled inside the Canyon Ranch Hotel and Spa Miami Beach is the 680-square-foot Carillon Lounge. The spa's wellness theme continues in this bar/lounge, with organic and sustainable alcohol and snack offerings set beside dark woods and a granite bar top. It can accommodate 45 guests, but for a bigger event, the connecting conservatory area can be used, holding an additional 50.

5. In the heart of Brickell, in the Mark Condo overlooking Biscayne Bay, is new dining and lounge spot Crazy About You. The waterfront property is decorated with floor-to-ceiling wine racks, espresso-colored floors, and dim lighting. The dining area seats 107, with additional space for 50 in the lounge. Every entrée includes an appetizer, and house wines are priced at $4 a glass and $13 for the bottle.

6. Owner of the Strike and Bowlmor bowling alleys Tom Shannon opened his newest property, Pulse Lounge, on July 28 on the second floor the Dolphin Mall. A dark red palette covers the nightlife venue, which has a 35-foot long bar, a stage, screens with projectors, and a 2,600-square-foot dance floor. Pulse holds 145 and has 12 private booths, each holding as many as 10 guests.

7. Highbar is a rooftop lounge at Dream South Beach that opened June 9. The lounge holds 275 and is outfitted with an infinity pool, and offers a snack and cocktail menu and seating areas with casual furniture.

8. One of the newest dining lounges in Delray Beach is the 83-seat Buddha Sky Bar on Atlantic Avenue. The third-floor lounge, which opened in April, has a glass-encased rooftop arboretum overlooking downtown, plus seating for both small and large parties, including booths for five, couches for six, and a 14-person banquet table that flanks the windows.

9. Kyma Lounge in the Epic Hotel and Residences in downtown Miami opened its doors in April. On the first level, the space features 30-foot ceilings, LED lighting, a circular bar, and custom lounge furniture; the second level has its own bar for a more intimate setting. The lounge holds 300.

10. Arkadia, the Fontainebleau Miami Beach's lounge and pool concept, opened last October. The venue's indoor and outdoor spaces hold more than 300, and have 25 tables, two full-service bars, and a DJ booth inside. Both areas can be used as one venue, or there is the option of buying out either the indoor or outdoor space only.
