Planners in need of a giant outdoor space have a new option at Universal Studios, where Music Plaza, a permanent outdoor concert venue, debuted in February.
The 32,000-square-foot venue, inspired by L.A.'s iconic Hollywood Bowl, has already hosted performers Kelly Clarkson, Ne-Yo, and LL Cool J, and is available for special events when public concerts are not scheduled.
The 60- by 40-foot stage includes an entirely digital audio system and is bookended by two 20-foot-tall projection screens, while the new Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster zooms by at 65 m.p.h. in the background.
Audience members can watch concerts from a 15,156-square-foot synthetic lawn, which is surrounded by palm trees, as well as food and merchandise stands. Music Plaza can host concerts for a few hundred to several thousand guests.
