On October 17, Saks Fifth Avenue in Tampa closed its doors to the public so that a select 500 guests could enjoy a private V.I.P. reception, fashion show, and shopping event to benefit the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
Imperial Party Rental and Panache: A Classic Party Rentals Company came together to create the sleek display of silent-auction items. Long tables draped in light pink fabric held gift baskets from local sponsors up for bid. In the cosmetics area of the store, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar served savory bites to hungry guests. Spicy Cajun barbecue shrimp, smoked Norwegian salmon bruschetta, hand-carved New York strip steak, and mini lump crab cakes were among the dishes. Barefoot Wine & Spirits supplied complimentary wine and champagne. For dessert, A La Carte Event Pavilion arranged a tempting array of chocolate cookies and pastries. The treats were served on silver trays placed on risers draped with pink and silver fabric. Pink roses provided by Floral Impressions adorned the table.
After guests had some time to mingle, snack, and survey the silent auction, the show began. Radio personality Marvelous Marvin hosted a live auction, followed by a group of cancer survivors who hit the runway to model the latest fashions available at Saks.
As the models came out for their final bow, a DJ from Bobby Stoner production company played Gloria Gaynor's hit "I Will Survive" as a testament to the women's victories over cancer.
