Local celebrities in North Florida stepped out on February 1 to raise money for the Donna Hicken Breast Cancer Foundation. Taking a cue from the popular television show Dancing with the Stars, planners and members of the "Dancing with Local Stars" committee put on a competition at the historic Fountain of Youth site in St. Augustine.
As guests made their way to a tent provided by St. Augustine Tent Rentals, they passed through a small building that housed the fountain, which was adorned with pink lilies from Steve Drelsbach Wholesale Florist. Xcapes L.L.C. lined the walkways to the fountain with pink luminaries and candles that directed guests through the garden to the main event space. A lit fire pit and white twinkle lights wrapped around the garden's trees added to the ambience.Inside the tent, pink lighting, courtesy of Sight and Sound Productions, drenched the walls. A DJ and dancers from A Social Affair and the All Star Orchestra got the party started, and guests geared up to watch the competition. Before the festivities began, however, Carrabba's Italian Grill served up an Italian feast for guests to enjoy.
In the end, Dr. Rebecca Faunce Rubino was the winner in both rounds, scoring a perfect 30 on her showcase routine of the tango. The real winner of the evening, though, was the Donna Hicken Breast Cancer Foundation, which took in more than $10,000 from the event.
