In addition to 37 movable LED lights suspended from the ceiling, decorative lighting comes from three floor-to-ceiling columns covered with irregular layers of concrete that are backed by LED lights, all of which can be programmed for different colors and special effects. There are also five Murano glass chandeliers and several wall sconces.
The only area of the sprawling Mezz space that is not carpeted is the 500-square-foot permanent dance floor in the middle of the long interior wall. Farther down that wall are doors leading to the building’s parking garage, so that loading can be done without use of the elevator. The loading area is also conveniently situated next to the catering kitchen.
Just down the hall from the Mezz is the Plum Room, an intimate, 415-square-foot semiprivate room that can be set with three eight-top tables or a conference table for 30. Rental of the Mezz includes two options for pre-events—a 16- by 16-foot area outside the the main room, or the 375-square-foot lobby on the ground floor. Decorated with black and white damask wallpaper and a 12-foot black chaise and love seats, the glass-front lobby is ideal for a cocktail reception.
The Florida Theatrical Association has a video production staff, and Webcasting capabilities available for use by private groups. The organization’s second venue, the Abbey, is scheduled to open in February.
