The 29 meeting rooms have new contemporary furniture and computerized Lutron dimmer systems that program lighting based on a schedule of events to save energy. Outside each room, an LCD screen mounted next to the door can be programmed to display information or logos.
In addition to the meeting rooms, the event space at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress includes a 24,000-square-foot ballroom and a 17,000-square-foot exhibit hall. There is also a 7,000-square-foot prefunction area that now has sheer panels suspended from the ceiling that can be pulled down to partition the space. New colorful carpet, modern artwork, and streamlined architectural lighting were also part of the renovation throughout the event areas.
The transformation of the meeting space, which was completed in January, followed a similar renovation of the guest rooms. A hotel spokesperson said each of the 815 rooms was “taken down to the studs,” getting all-new carpet, furniture, light fixtures, and decorative accents. The final phase of the project will be a further renovation of the lobby, scheduled for the coming year.
