Along Orlando’s crowded tourist corridor known as I-Drive, there’s a new option for groups looking for a venue for teambuilding or entertainment. Open since May 21, the WhirlyDome houses two courts where teams compete in WhirlyBall—a combination of bumper cars, basketball, jai alai, and hockey. The 25,000-square-foot facility is available for buyout and can accommodate 750 people.
WhirlyBall is typically played five-on-five, with players piloting WhirlyBugs (high tech bumper cars) as they use a scoop to pass and shoot a plastic ball at their opponents' goal. Games traditionally last one hour but can also be played in 15-minute increments.
The WhirlyDome has two private rooms with Wi-Fi and TVs that can be used for presentations. The room on the ground floor can accommodate 24 people, and the room on the second floor can fit 30. There is also a restaurant and bar, the Bloodhound Brew Pub & Eatery, serving salads, sandwiches, and the signature Bloodhound Burger—stuffed with mac and cheese, topped with Havarti and bacon, and drizzled with pineapple glaze. The restaurant has seating for 140 people.
The facility has additional entertainment options, including a Formula One racing simulator, laser tag, billiards, bowling, and an arcade. WhirlyDome is open seven days a week until 2 a.m.
