1. CHANEL HOSTS RODEO IN DALLAS: Chanel hosted its annual Métiers d’Art show at an unlikely location: the Texas State Fairgrounds. In style-conscious Dallas, some grumbled that only 100 of the 900 guests were local. The others included celebrities, buyers, and more than 200 journalists. New York Times: “The first thing guests saw was a mock ’50s drive-in theater, with concession stands and 74 gleaming vintage automobiles lined up in rows before four movie screens. … Guests moved to another area for the show. Draped with flags, the wood floor scattered with hay, it resembled a livestock sale arena. 2. STAPLES CENTER HAS RECORD YEAR: With help from Taylor Swift, One Direction, Justin Timberlake, and Rihanna, the Staples Center in Los Angeles hosted a record 53 concerts in 2013, including 35 sellouts. It was a massive jump over the old record of 38 shows in 2011. 3. VIDEO: SEE NEW YORK’S SANTACON IN ACTION: The notorious bar crawl known as SantaCon—so named for the revelers dressed in Santa costumes—has gone from quirky event to near-menace to society.
