
The downtown Joule Dallas was scheduled to complete a $78 million renovation and expansion by late 2012, adding 29 new suites, four penthouses, 14,000 square feet of meeting space, a 25-seat screening room, and an 8,000-square-foot spa. The Adam Tihany-designed property also includes a 2,100-square-foot deck around the 10th-floor pool.

Located across the street from Southern Methodist University, Hotel Lumen completed an expansion in 2012 that added a second tower and 34 guest rooms to the property’s 54 existing rooms. The hotel also added two suites with bar areas and exclusive access to a new rooftop terrace. The hotel’s boardroom seats 10.

The 23-story glass-fronted Omni Dallas Convention Center, which opened in November 2011, offers 1,000 guest rooms, as well as a sky bridge providing direct access into the Dallas Convention Center. The hotel also has 80,000 square feet of on-site meeting space, including the 33,000-square-foot grand ballroom, plus five dining venues.

Set downtown at the Plaza of the Americas, the Dallas Marriott City Center completed an extensive $20 million renovation in January 2012, outfitting the property with an eclectic Texas design. The hotel now includes 407 guest rooms, 25,000 square feet of meeting space, and a new restaurant, Centric.

Open since August, the 76-room Nylo Dallas South Side has a dramatic, 4,500-square-foot rooftop terrace. The loft-style lobby has exposed concrete floors, street art-covered ceiling lamps, and artsy, jewel-toned accents throughout. The adjacent Library lounge holds 75 for a reception; there’s also a 10-seat boardroom.
