VENUE: Hotel Gansevoort Opens Event Spaces

Towering over the now-fashionable meatpacking district, the Hotel Gansevoort offers 187 guest rooms and versatile event spaces on its top floor. The main loft space has floor-to-ceiling windows, an adjoining terrace with uptown and Hudson River views and holds 130. A spacious garden with views of the West Village and downtown holds 75. Also on the top floor is Plunge, a lounge suitable for small receptions with a fully retractable glass roof. Next to Plunge is the 45-foot-long pool, which can be covered for additional event space. A ground-level spa is in the works, and restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow is scheduled to open Ono—a Japanese restaurant—in May. The event spaces and guest rooms will be available tomorrow; the entire hotel is scheduled to open officially in June. —Mark Mavrigian
