This Week: Fragrances, Textiles, and Orchids

Today, Gen Art’s film festival opens with a screening of Kevin Bacon’s Loverboy, at the Ziegfeld Theatre. The festival continues through Tuesday, with screenings at the Clearview Chelsea West cinemas. And at Cipriani 42nd Street, food rescue nonprofit City Harvest holds its Practical Magic ball. Follow your nose to the Hammerstein Ballroom on Thursday—the Fragrance Foundation celebrates scents with the FiFi awards. At the Javits Center, the New York Gift Cash and Carry show begins, and continues through Saturday.

This Friday, fashion types and socialites will head to the Mandarin Oriental for the Friends of New Yorkers for Children’s Fools Fete benefit. The New York Home Textiles show brings together exhibitors from the home, bed, and bath markets at the Javits Center on Friday. The show runs through Monday. The Ex-tracts trade show runs concurrently with the textile expo and will exhibit fitness and personal care products and services. On Saturday, New York magazine gathers bridal vendors together at Bridgewaters for its Weddings Showcase.

Next Monday, New York Women in Communications will honor women for top achievement in the fields of advertising, arts and entertainment, books, broadcast, magazines, and PR with its Matrix awards (one of our Top 100 Events) at the Waldorf=Astoria. And Tuesday, BiZBash will present our Event Style Awards at B. B. King Blues Club & Grill, recognizing achievement in the meeting and event industry. And the sweet-smelling New York International Orchid show returns to Rockefeller Center until Sunday.
