Turning 40, Century Plaza Is Getting Face-Lift

The 19-story Century Plaza hotel opened in 1966, and plans to celebrate its ruby anniversary with a party on June 1. Hyatt bought the property in October 2005, renaming it the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, with plans to begin a $22 million renovation in July. Guestrooms and suites will be refurbished and a new restaurant and bar with outside patio and street access will be added. A ground-level lounge is planned along with two floors devoted to executive club accommodations, and an upscale
espresso bar and international newsstand will round out the hotel’s upgraded list of services and amenities.
