Tabia Yapp is a creative entrepreneur and the owner of Bia Blooms Floral Studio. She's based in Los Angeles.
How she got her start: Like many businesses, Tabia Yapp's started small. She began by designing floral arrangements for fun and gifting them to friends, family, and to just enjoy them herself. "After getting a warm response to my work, I decided to make things more official and start what is now Bia Blooms," she says of her LA-based studio specializing in floral design for large and small events, installations, and gifting. "My studio has designed for movie premieres, after-parties, intimate dinners, sets, pop-up activations, and so many individual homes," Yapp adds. "I love how florals can animate any space."
What sets her company apart: Yapp has an operational background, and she prides herself on creating a professional, smooth atmosphere for her clients. "Event planning can throw a lot of curveballs at you," she says, "and it helps to have an organized and experienced partner to collaborate with."
What innovation means to her: "My design approach is often driven by color story, vibe, and whatever’s fresh at the market," Yapp explains. "For every project, my goal is to design something vibrant and innovative that blends the client’s wishes and vision with the Bia Blooms style."
Memorable moments: Bia Blooms recently designed florals for a Grammys celebration at The Beverly Hilton. "The vision for that event included a vibrant floral installation and luscious centerpieces with orange as our hero color throughout," Yapp says. "That was a special one, but I equally adore designing for intimate dinners, where blooms can really bring a tablescape to life."
Her biggest hope for the events industry: "One of my favorite things about my floral community is how we look out for each other and work from a 'we can all eat' mentality," Yapp says. "I hope this type of mindset and mutual support only continues to bloom."
