How he got his start: After working with locally established DJ companies in Atlanta, Toryn Lankford "officially" (his quotes, not ours) began his DJ career in 2009, then launched Exquisite Sounds Entertainment in 2011.
"My love for technology and music, fused with my strong desire to enhance the client experience, are just some of the factors that led me in the past, and actually still lead me to this day," he says. "As the owner and one of the principal DJs, my goal is to create an unforgettable, elevated, and enjoyable DJ experience from the time our clients come into direct contact with us, until their event is over and even further than that."
What sets his company apart: What sets Exquisite Sounds Entertainment apart can be found within the company's "experience, preparation, and our continued commitment to pursue excellence in the event space," Lankford says. "Our experience alone boasts more than 30 years of combined experience, while our preparation and attention to detail are oftentimes what leads to helping exceed our clients' expectations and ensures a seamless and smooth event."
Lankford also cites his company's commitment to pursuing excellence. That "leads us to work at our highest standards and above to ensure our contribution to our clients' events is unparalleled," he says.
What innovation means to him: "To me, innovation means being open and receptive to change," Lankford explains. "Innovation can mean improvements or updates to your business, processes, or even equipment. It’s about how you embrace that change and use it to your benefit or your clients' benefit to help create unique, one-of-a-kind experiences for your clients."

Memorable moments: One of Lankford's most memorable events his company has worked on recently was a conference held locally in Atlanta. "The event, with a little over 8,000 in attendance, brought together women of the same organization from across three states for four days of lecture, learning, and reconnecting," he says. "Exquisite Sounds Entertainment was brought in to handle multiple entertainment components across those four days, ranging from DJ entertainment to phototainment experiences."
He adds that the event gave Exquisite Sounds an opportunity to not only utilize its offerings in multiple spaces throughout the event, but to stretch outside the box and incorporate other vendors. Ultimately, Lankford and his team were able "to create a cohesive and unique entertainment experience that had not been given to the organization in years past."
His biggest hope for the events industry: "My biggest hope for the event industry is that more vendors (including ourselves) take more time to create valuable content to share with clients on the true cost of producing and curating events, along with all the details that go into event production and preparation," Lankford says.
