After more than 25 years on Clinton Street in Little Italy, Antonio Barato has expanded Trattoria Giancarlo to include a new wine bar and semiprivate dining room. The new space, designed by Munge Leung, is consistent with the decor in the original restaurant and features exposed brick walls and a ceiling of reclaimed Douglas fir.
The wine bar, which has a separate entrance on College Street, can hold up to 40 people for receptions. The semiprivate dining room can accommodate groups of 15 to 35 for events. The original space seats 45. There is no printed wine list. Rather, customers are encouraged to choose a bottle from the hot pink wine display case—which runs the length of the semiprivate dining room. Chef Eugenia Barato's menu offers entrées of pasta, seafood, lamb, and steak. Trattoria Giancarlo is available for private bookings.
