Clothes-watching came in a close second after antiquing for the more than 700 guests at the Barker Hangar at the Los Angeles Antiques Show opening night preview party on April 25. Style connoisseurs in bubble skirts and sky-high stilettos browsed wares—for sale on the spot—belonging to 65 fine art and antique dealers from around the world at the party, which kicked off the four-day show, now in its 12th year, presented by the Antique Dealers Association of California and planned by Liz Lees and Bill Caskey of Caskey Lees. The party featured a brief live auction, and the entire event raised
$300,000 for its charity beneficiary, art education nonprofit P.S.
Arts; the org’s director of marketing, Amy Shapiro, enlisted the help
of Carleen Cappelletti of Best Events
and freelance event coordinator Robyn Leuthe to plan the party. As the
mingling and shopping wound down, staffers handed female guests a
single pink rose from donor Teleflora on their way out into the mild
night.
