Tamsen's fashion show had a nautical theme with nary a striped shirt or deck shoe in sight. Built to look like the deck of an ocean liner, the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers was an appropriate spot for designers Sue Firestone and Mimi Wolfe to show off their spring and summer 2005 collection, inspired by the art of Firestone's father-in-law, Robert Firestone. Pam Bristow produced the event, which had rows of chairs divided into sections named after islands like Capri and St. Tropez marked with white sail-shaped signs propped on easels. And inside the cocktail area, MX Works projected Tamsen-branded videos onto sail-shaped projection screens.
Following the brief runway show, guests boarded Tamsen's yacht harbored next to the Lighthouse for a short, three-song set from Monica, who remains a loyal customer despite being panned by fashion critics once for wearing a particular Tamsen dress. And while the stilettos and kitten heels worn by many attendees aren't the most seaworthy of shoes—Monica shed her Blahniks for her barefoot performance on the bow of the yacht—everyone braved the gently rocking boat to sip champagne and munch on hors d'oeuvres during Monica's mini-concert.
