On October 30, the Junior League of Fort Myers announced the winners of the 25th annual Taste of the Town festival's Best Taste Awards. Celebrity judges including "Downtown Diva" Stephanie Davis and NBC2 anchorman Clay Miller sampled 25 dishes prepared by local restaurants in the categories of appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Biddle's Restaurant and Piano Bar won in the appetizer category with its tuna tower, Channel Mark won the best entrée for the second consecutive year with its fried hogfish plate, and the Funky Flamingo took home first place in desserts for its pineapple orange cake. Top honors went to Biddle's for best overall dish.

It was meant to surprise the guests, with cheese molded to resemble summer fruits, pumpernickel “dirt,” chocolate-covered “grasshoppers,” edible “pebbles,” and grilled bread.
